Abstract

The "conceptual metaphor" fundamentally shapes human cognition to a significant extent. This paper explores the connotations, evolution, and distinctive features of different types of conceptual metaphor theory. It proposes the integration of metaphor theory into college English vocabulary teaching to stimulate students' learning of vocabulary and phrases through the cognitive functions of metaphor. Through comparative analysis, the paper reveals the potential application of conceptual metaphor in college English vocabulary teaching and its impact on learning outcomes.
